I wondered whether there was a mappy project opportunity around oil production and consumption. I started out with this prompt: “I want to make a map based dashboard about oil production, consumption, refining and the flows between countries. before we start can you research what data is available at country level” Claude found me these sources: US EIA (public domain) for production and consumption JODI for refinery throughput (free, with a required citation) UN Comtrade for trade between countries (I asked; they replied that no licence was needed) World Bank for population Natural Earth for boundaries. Claude reminded me that I needed to double check that open data was actually open for my use case after the debacle with IUCN data for my Endangered Species map and even drafted… No comments yet.
