You can read my original report for the project details. For our instant purposes, it suffices to say that the library – one of the beautiful original Carnegie libraries – had been closed for renovations on July 21, 2023, and the Brooklyn Public Library system projected that the project would take 18-24 months to complete. 18 months came and went on January 23, 2025. The library remained closed. The library status remained unchanged on July 23, 2025, which marked 24 months since the library had been closed. On December 15, 2025, when I published a short article titled BPL Renovations in Gerritsen Beach and Carroll Gardens, the library was still closed as the renovations approached month 29. Curious, I found a report from May 27, 2025, noting that New York City’s Department of Design and Construction anticipated finishing renovations by November 2025,… No comments yet.
