Book review for The Everlasting by Alix E. Harrow. I rated it 4.5 stars. The Everlasting had been on my TBR for a while, but when I heard it had won both the 2026 Hugo and Locus Fantasy awards, that bumped it up to the top of the list. From the cover and the name, I'll be honest I had the assumption it was going to be your run-of-the-mill fantasy novel (but decent, considering it won an award) but there were a couple of twists in there that I found quite interesting. For one the plot itself is quite unique for a fantasy as it hinges on time travel. A historian by the name of Owen goes back in time to record the story of legendary knight Sir Una Everlasting for future generations. The pair get stuck in a loop, and re-live the same events of Una's legendary exploits over and over as they try and rewrite history. The book swaps perspectives between the loops, and even if the pair don't recognise each other upon a new loop, it's like two souls reconnecting and a romance starts to develop…
