The Air Contains Honey is the kind of band you’ll want to sit cross-legged with, drink tea and wine with, share books and bike rides and late autumn mornings with. If that sounds whimsical, it is, wholeheartedly, in keeping with the record. The project is a loose collective of multi-genre Montreal artists singing in unison quotes from the likes of Kathy Acker, Agnes Martin, Chris Kraus and T. E. Lawrence. These include: “There’s a certain joy in being wrong”; “We shall define sexuality as that which can’t be satisfied and therefore as that which transforms the person”; “I adore everything I don’t understand”. The music layers these mantra-like chants across blithe and dappled electronics from Suuns drummer Liam O’Neill and the mellow, motley orchestration of nearly 20 musicians…
