I don't hoard domains for web projects per se, more like personal projects that ran their course to various degrees (like, the band broke up, I lost interest in making deep house, I didn't really want to work on a mobile app, our reading group stopped meeting, etc). Yep, I also spite-kept a couple domains that I had the foresight to register on behalf of -- and subsequently strongly believed should not belong to -- a particular organization. Like Josh Sherman, in 2026 I let a number of domains go and that's fine with me. Additionally, in 2026 several hosting clients called it a day and asked me to let their registration expire. As a recovering domain hoarder, this move still baffles me slightly, since, who knows, someday you could want to start up again, or maybe put a static archive online or something.
