When I was running at the Toronto Zoo a few weeks ago, there were volunteers cheering along the sidelines. At around the 3km mark, I started hearing them say, “You’re almost there!” My immediate reaction was relief, followed by the thought, “No, I’m not!” I may have crossed the halfway mark, which was a great milestone, but I was by no means, “Almost there.” I was hearing, “Almost there!” for 40% of my run, which defeated the purpose of it. It felt like false optimism to me. The post Almost there appeared first on Herbert Lui.
