Philocoffea is a coffee shop founded by Tetsu Kasuya, winner of the 2016 World Brewers Cup. Even if you haven’t heard of him, you may have heard of his famous “4:6” method for making pour-over coffee. Their first branch opened in 2018 in Chiba, and they have since expanded to five stores, including this Omotesando store which only recently opened in 2025. The store is tucked away down a flight of stairs. I visited around midday on a Saturday, but surprisingly it wasn’t too crowded. The interior of the store is fairly compact, and they make good use of Tetsu Kasuya’s champion status, selling “world champion series” coffee drip bags and noting particular beans as “World Champion Tetsu’s pick”. On the menu is a selection of single origin beans for pour-overs, ranging from 800 to 1500 yen. They did also have two 4000 yen beans but they were out of stock.
