Earlier thoughts Today I noticed someone else’s group banned Heliocentricity. The TaoLing and I had a phone call with Lou W. (who is named in the credits) and he pointed out that it is powerful, but also “unsubtly powerful,” (as compared to the subtle political powers that I don’t appreciate as much because I have much less experience exploiting them). My reframing of his position is that a bonus coast (or Space Force’s freighter movement) is like Military Power in Race for the Galaxy … it is strong; but new players perceive it as dominant because its an obvious strategy that is easy to implement. I cannot dismiss this argument out of hand. We had a (co-op) game with Explorers without Borders1 and it did prove more useful than expected, letting me refuel an allied rocket two burns away from LEO sometimes lets you dodge weight restrictions (put a bit of fuel in, get +1 thrust for the rad belt), then fuel some more, saving a turn.
