I am stunned to discover that it was a decade ago that I last wrote about the Southern Maryland Celtic Festival. How much has changed since then. Anyways recently (as I’m writing this blog post now posted months into the future) I went to two different Celtic festival-type things, the the aforementioned CSSM and the Fair Hill Scottish Games! The first of these, the actual Celtic Festival, I wound up going all by my lonesome. My super amazing wife had baby shower that weekend (for someone else’s baby) and could not join the fun. So I drove off the hour to go check out the festival. It was, as far as I could tell, exactly how I had left it. There were a lot of bagpipers, which I am a big fan of. I like that bagpipers will just kinda wander off to tune up, and so scattered approximately equidistant throughout the festival were bagpipers warming up. This included surrounding the porta-potties, which made for a mellifluous bathroom experience. The massed bands. I had a couple of priorities…
