2026-W40: Out

It feels like bragging but this week I took long-distance trains again and once again, everything went smoothly. (Well, except that my original train was canceled but at least I knew that early enough. And I’m not going to mention the groups of retirees who celebrated their train trip with sparkling wine and liver sausage sandwiches. In many ways it seems like these people only exist in German long distance trains.) Once again I’ve noticed that I’m really due for a break from every day life. Going both ways I passed Frankfurt Airport and both times I had the urge to leave the train and just randomly fly off somewhere and vanish. And then I realised I haven’t flown from Frankfurt in a long, long time. Over thirteen years ago, in fact.
