We wont a different way to communicate, organize and build power together. But the #Fediverse is not simply a kinder version of corporate social media, its has a real promise based on the history of the #openweb: people and communities building their own spaces, connecting through open standards, and sharing power without handing control to a central platform. The problem we need to compost is that there are few working, humane alternatives to the current #deathcult. So for meant people simply stepping away isn’t an option – We need practical alternatives that work in the real world, rooted in grassroots experience and capable of growing beyond isolated projects for these people to step to.
