This is not a consequence of some evil conspiracy. Scientists have shown that only tame, domesticated creatures can be trusted to behave calmly when crammed into massively overcrowded unnatural spaces in which they have no agency, no freedom to do what their instincts would naturally drive them to do. Put any other primates in a crowded airplane on a trans-oceanic trip, we are told, and most of them would be dead, murdered by the others, before the plane landed.
