Review by Sandre the Giant Released: 17th April 2026 Dutch anarchist black metal project Drang have just released their debut album back in April, and were kind enough to get in touch to let me have a listen to it. I always like to make sure I review work by small bands who contact me directly, no matter what its like and how long it takes, but I immediately took to Drang’s sound on a cursory first listen. ‘De Doorbraak’ is out now self released digitally and also through Fiadh Productions on cassette. Opening track ‘Inleiding voor de Revolutie’ is vicious and relentless black metal, dark and murky but not incomprehensible. No, this is the kind of thick, smoky black metal that chokes you with its fire and ash. There are plenty of subtle melodic passages that lurk within this darkness too, never compromising its tone or weight but providing little shreds of light to hang onto. ‘Proletarisch Verzet’ has some eerie cleaner vocal passages, and I enjoy the dynamic shifts in ‘Collectieve…
