Nestled in a small corner of Dumfries and Galloway, New Abbey is home to the famed Sweetheart Abbey and offers a small, pivotal slice of Scottish rural life that is now largely overlooked. It is a part of Scottish life that is now overlooked, however, once would have been the focal point for the local community's daily life. Without further ado, I will not "mill around," as I am talking about New Abbey and its Corn Mill. The Corn MillThe Corn Mill is situated in the heart of the lovely village of New Abbey, which also includes a ruined abbey well worth a visit. The mill inspires a feeling of old-world charm, giving the village a real rustic, down-to-earth flavour. Why? Because it is rare these days to see old rural industrial heritage so close at hand. As you travel through the streets of New Abbey, you realise it has a hodgepodge of beautiful Scottish homes that wouldn't look out of place in a period drama.
