While in Minneapolis, we decided to see whatever was on at the Guthrie theater, Minneapolis's monolithic riverside theater complex. It's an incredible building, packed with bizarre little views of the river, bike paths, and ancient industrial structures all around it, often through weird tinted windows. I really had an incredible time visiting! Here's a backstage view through a blue window: Waiting for Godot was a good watch. I'd read the play in high school but have honestly never seen it performed before. My husband actually arrived at the theater knowing absolutely nothing about it, holding no preconceptions whatsoever, which is maybe the most incredible way for a person to see it. You have to be extremely lucky to navigate high school and arrive in an actual theater to see this play while knowing nothing about it. Being able to see it without your enjoyment of it having been diminished by a high school or college class on the play feels like heisting culture out of a vault. He…
