I spent the first week of it down in Sydney visiting my Mum, then came back to Tokyo and holed up in my apartment for much of the rest of it. Suddenly the skies cleared though, and I got in some hiking right at the end of September, which is why this newsletter is a little delayed coming out. Hiking Hokkaido's Mt Poroshiri and Mt Yotei I did a road trip around Hokkaido in August, so September had me slowly making my way through my blog posts for that. The first mountain we hiked was Mt Poroshiri. It's considered to be one of the hardest hyakumeizan due to the amount of logistics planning involved, plus a bunch of river-crossing which is quite a rare thing for hiking in Japan. Poroshiri was an absolutely gorgeous mountain, and I feel so grateful that I got the opportunity to climb it with such good weather. The second major peak we climbed in Hokkaido was Mt Yotei - at 9 hours round trip it's still a solidly long hike, but in comparison… No comments yet. Log in to reply on the Fediverse.
