Dane 1 hour ago · 7 min read1356 words · Writing · hide · 0 comments Note: This post contains serious spoilers for season 1 of Pluribus I was watching season 1 of Pluribus this past week, and I have to say that while it's a very odd, somewhat unstructured show, I was really fascinated by it, seeing it as a possible parable for any number of things. To be clear, this post isn't an endorsement of the show. It's... much to odd for me to just heartily recommend to people, but if you like quasi-apocalyptic, (maybe?) hard sci-fi minus space travel (with a bit of an odd bent), it might just be for you. Like others, I saw the parallel between the Others and "Artificial Intelligence:" this saccharin-sweet hive-mind that so dearly desires to please, seemingly has access to all of the world's knowledge, and is very quiet on its real objectives and dangers. But something else struck me about the last episode of season 1, "La Chica o El Mundo": "The Others" reminded me a lot of social media.
