June Ku was my partner of nine years and a core reason why Misaligned Markets exists. Two years ago, she gave me a very generous Christmas gift in the form of seed money for both this blog and a related project. June also graciously designed this blog’s logo. More than that, though, June was a mentor who nourished my philosophical curiosity, which very few people have meaningfully done.My discussions with June, sometimes heated but always earnest, taught me a lot about philosophy while testing my intuitions and providing me with a sharper vocabulary to describe the world. June had a knack for teaching; even when she strongly disagreed with me, she left me with a more complete understanding of the weaknesses of my view and the strengths of hers. Her goal was never to dominate a discussion, but to point your gaze somewhere you couldn’t yet see.
