A company by the name of "New Matter" has revealed their first product dubbed "Sudo" as a dedicated music player with an ahem familiar design. It'll cost $250 and you may place a $50 reservation now. They expect to ship in the fourth quarter of 2027. I have been longing for the return of an iPod Classic in my life. The used market is booming lately with prices being in the $150~ range, and that's before exploring mods that bring the iPod forward with new batteries, storage, Bluetooth, etc. This seems like a possible better bang for those 250 bucks. But, who are New Matter? I can't really find much. Their website and socials are sparse and newly made. On Instagram the account follows three others—stuffbyretro, Teenage Engineering, and MSCHF—those last two feeling like inspirational follows. This stuffbyretro account is also new, but is promoting an iPod app for iPhones that will surely never leave TestFlight and be widely available. Apple does not tolerate iPod clones.1 All of that…
