Case in point: My husband's great-great-grand uncle Train Caldwell (1810-1887), born in Ohio to James and Mary Caldwell on this day 216 years ago. The Caldwell family soon moved to the town of Posey in Fayette County, Indiana, where Train became a farmer. In 1831, he married Jane McClure (1810-1869), and they raised a family on their farm. According to the Richmond (Indiana) Weekly Palladium newspaper, Train Caldwell was the owner of a "noble stallion" exhibited as part of a horse show at the Wayne County (Indiana) Fair in 1852 (almost midway between where Train was born in Ohio and where he died in Indiana). The newspaper described the stallion this way:He is a rich mahogany bay, of fine size, noble bearing, good style, and great muscular action.
