The honest side of breeding Roborovskis

I’ve had a lot of ups and downs with breeding Roborovski hamsters. When I first started, I honestly questioned myself a lot. There were moments where I wanted to quit early on because I felt like I wasn’t doing things efficiently enough, or like maybe I wasn’t making progress fast enough. Robos are tiny, fast, sensitive, and not always easy to work with. They are not the kind of hamster that instantly proves your work to other people because tameness, confidence, and good temperament can take time. There have been litters that made me excited, and there have also been moments that made me doubt everything. I’ve had to learn that breeding is not just about producing babies. It is about watching patterns, learning from each pairing, paying attention to temperament, health, size, mothering, and being honest about what is actually improving.
