Double Maths First Thing is fair drawing in. Hello! My name is Colin and I am a mathematician on a mission to spread the joy and delight in doing and talking (and singing) about maths. This week I’m in the undelightful state of “writing up maths I’ve already done”, which is preventing me from doing new maths. I don’t like it. This year, they’re running a prize competition for maths in libraries (which there should be more of). My favourite paper of the week: An Abundance Of Katherines: The Game Theory of Baby Naming, by Katy Blumer, Kate Donahue, Katie Fritz, Kate Ivanovich, Katherine Lee, Katie Luo, Cathy Meng, and Katie Van Koevering. Katie Steckles is not an author, but she has pointed me at a daily game called Trace, which I refuse to engage with on “already having too many daily games” grounds.
