Daniel Thompson and I started a basketblog over on Substack called the Rocker Step. Daniel is a Champaign, IL-based hoops writer who contributes to Basketball Society and is a credentialed reporter covering the University of Illinois WBB. We met on Threads, where we are part of the larger basketball writing and/or posting community, and became friends based on our shared enjoyment of basketball, the NBA, and the WNBA, and our belief that the hoops discourse —— as it currently exists both online and offline —— could and should be a lot better. The Rocker Step was born out of a somewhat naive belief that we can make a difference and improve the state of hoops discourse.
