The Book of Temples Chapter 44

Lady of Rain’s folk thrived ‘neath her guidance. They never knew suffering. Then the farms sent word that trouble had come, strangers wandering from far. These raiders declared that the Lord of Feasts granted them authority. Their Child God allowed his People to seize anything that would please him. Farmers resisted and several were slain. Other farmers acquiesced. The harvest given Lord of Feasts’ folk gone. The farmers had nought to send. They feared the raiders would return again to demand more for their god. Lady of Rain grieved for her dead People and wished to forestall more death. She had her builders go south to the farms and erect many strong forts. She sent warriors to garrison forts and watch for more invaders. Warriors confessed that they were frightened for they knew nought of combat. Their Child God also knew nothing of war. She loved her pacifist ways. Her People needed to protect themselves. Aid must be found in nature. Lady of Rain sent wild wolves and bobcats to join…
