Gratitude Day 27: Narratives

Last night, I was having dinner with a group of friends, and the conversation drifted to a hot-button cultural issue. My friend was trying to find the right approach towards a group of people, and he showed us a video, wanting to get our feedback on it. The video was an Instagram reel (or whatever you call Meta's We-Have-TikTok-At-Home) of a "street preacher" publicly rebuking and denouncing a church group because he felt their opinions on a social matter were wrong. I'm not going to get into specifics, but you can use your imagination. Or choose not to. That might honestly be for the best. At the end of the video, my response was simply, "What did that accomplish?" My friend said he wasn't really sure. He seemed to feel off/conflicted about it, so he solicited our viewpoints on it. I won't share with you the opinion I gave, because it would probably just seem too nuanced to most people, and I know how frustrating that can be when you're seriously "over it."
