Almost a year in

It’s been almost a year since being back on the island and we’ve made a lot of progress with the house. It got power washed, garage windows replaced, roof redone, concrete patched, and finally painted. The yard also got a decent cut. Stressful and expensive, but these hurdles are in the past now. Not near our house, just nice scenery Our focus has now turned to solar panels… Since trump started the war with Iran prices here have shot up. Especially everyone’s electricity bills. So much so that the government has been subsidizing portions of our bills every month. A $700 USD electric bill isn’t normal, but of course it’s happening now. That’s $700 after $300 got taken off, by the way. This is also after we reduced using our 3 AC units from 9 hours each day to 5… For our sanity, we’re just choosing to pretend it’s “rent.” Other than that and high gas prices, life has been going on as normal. We celebrated my mom’s 70th birthday by going to a nice restaurant that’s a 3 minute boat ride…
