My second metric century 0 ▲ runtimeterror 1 hour ago · Life · hide · 0 comments On Saturday I set out with a friend to tackle the Spring City Cycling Club's annual All-You-Can-Eat Century↗. Like last year we opted for the 60(ish) mile / 100(ish) kilometer "Metric Century" route. Unlike last year, I had a proper road bike for the ride. My friend and I had done a lot more training over this summer to get ready for the ride, and that (plus the right equipment) really paid off. We finished about 40 minutes after than last year, and held a 2.5 mph higher average speed across the entire distance. We also felt a lot better at the end than we did last year. The big hill wasn't as big of a challenge as I'd remembered it being, we didn't get passed by nearly as many groups, and we got to the finish with plenty of time to enjoy the promised all-you-can-eat barbecue. Oh and while on course I rolled past 1500 miles on the new bike! I'm thinking we will try for the full (imperial) century next year. No comments yet. Log in to reply on the Fediverse.
