It meets the quality bar of any other side-scrolling Mario; no better or worse than any of the other ones While I remember it being a big deal at the time, it doesn’t seem like as big a deal now that this “sidescroller but 3d” arm of the series has been going for several years Resembles Mario 3 more than anything, what with the item inventory and the toad houses and the fact that the worlds are not interconnected The thing that makes this so fun was playing on real hardware, and the sideways Wii remote is delightful, but this is not a hardware review The game is fine; filing as “still holds up,” because you can sorta say that about any mario game.
