As you get older, you tend to perceive time passing more quickly. When you were a teenager, a week felt like forever; when you turn 60, you feel like it passes by in the blink of an eye. There are many different theories as to why this perception changes. The one I believe is as you accumulate more memories, and do more planning, your mind focuses on the past and the future, naturally becoming less sensitive to the present. This is a superpower in its own way: it’s easier to be patient. Waiting a year or two doesn’t matter when you know it will feel fast. P.S., It’s useful to remember, of course, that time objectively doesn’t move by faster. Take more photos, do more new stuff, and write in a journal. You’ll be surprised how slowly time is actually moving. The post Time desensitization makes it easier to be patient appeared first on Herbert Lui.
