Debian & The End of Distrohopping

4-6 months ago I had the urge to distrohop. It's been about 8 years since I've tried Ubuntu, so I decided to switch over from Debian. It was great for a little bit, got a newer NVIDIA driver and a newer version of Gnome, but my god has my patience dwindled for setting up new distros on a personal computer. It effectively an entire afternoon of my time gone, and I don't exactly enjoy it anymore. After setting up Zed (my preferred editor) with all its theme changes and typing shortcuts, then adding in all my backed up music, pictures, setting up git, then setting up golang, python, java, then setting up- blah blah blah. You get the gist, its a lot of work. As it turns out, I wasn't really a fan of Ubuntu, there's legit ads now for Ubuntu-pro when you do an apt update of the repositories1. Snaps are okay.. just not my thing. The whole hop just felt pointless. So I waited it out, hoping the little things would just go away after awhile, but they still irked me. So while I'm writing this…
