top goes on firstI have six coats on the top and I was happy with the look and the shine. Clamped the top to the base - the towel was to keep the clamp heads from marring the top. I was surprised that these clamps alone pulled the top down tight to the base all around. I was expecting the slat sides to have daylight that they didn't. wash, rinse, repeat for the shelfGot the shelf positioned and clamped and then I flipped it to screw in the table top clips.hmm........Clips screwed in and there is a bit of daylight on the slat edges. From the bottom I could see the clip was visible from the there. However, on the opposite side I couldn't see it. hmm........I had to do one more coat of shellac. There were four boo boos from the clamp pads. I didn't think with the towel that would happen. I had used wax paper on the shelf and nada. Zero hiccups with the clamp pads there. Easy fix - quick rub with 4-0 steel wool followed with some shellac.first glamour picThis is a good match for the tall…
