2026-09-19Hello! As I write this, I've long left the city of Philadelphia. I want to go back already. Maybe that's because I think I left something behind...On the road back, I got close to this low-hanging traffic light set and realized how massive it is. When street furniture like this is so far above human level, it's hard to get a context for perspective. But those things are massive! They're about a meter in height, and that's without the black border surrounding the yellow frame.After I got back, I went right back to the internet and tried to secure a traffic light lens for my home as decoration. It looks like all the options online are for commercial use for people who want to build roads, which makes sense. But I think a working traffic light, at a one-to-one scale, would be the perfect piece of lighting decor for a nerd like me. Even if I leave it in the basement.Finally, small or far away?
