52 Ancestors: Week 37, Johann Theodor Henrich and Anna Maria Adelheid (Garteil) Oelerich

Orginal post: 52 Ancestors in 52 Weeks Johann Theodor Henrich Oelerich, son of Johann Henrich and Phennenna (Brinckman) Oelerich, was baptized in Schöppingen 4 August 17571 and died there 23 May 1828.2 He married there 4 November 1800, Anna Maria Adelheid Garteil,3 daughter of Theodor and Anna Margaretha (Steggenbrick) Garteil. She was baptized in Welbergen (now part of Ochtrup) 19 November 17744 and died in Schöppingen 27 August 1806.5 Theodor is called a Tagelöhner (day laborer) in Adelheid's marriage in Asbeck.6 All other later mentions of his occupation call him a Leibzuchter,2,7,8,9 one who resided on a portion of the farm reserved for the retired owner of the farm after it was passed down or sold called the Leibzucht. Oelerichs Leibzucht was located in the Bauerschaft (farming community) of Gemen in western Schöppingen.
