1000 Days of Doing Something 0 ▲ a smol miscellanea 2 hours ago · Life · hide · 0 comments I’ve just spent the last 1000 days practising drawing and painting. While I can’t say I’ve made a lot of art I’m proud of, or even like all that much, I am quite chuffed with having done what I set out to do a couple of years ago. It was a simple goal: learn to draw better, by committing to making a mark every day, no matter the medium, time, or skill used. There aren’t many things in life I’ve done literally every day for 1000 days in a row. I’ve tried many times to build habits over the years, and it’s always petered out. I can’t fathom why it stuck this time. Why this streak lasted. How it became such an ingrained habit. So entrenched that I feel vaguely uncomfortable every day until the drawing is done. I’m glad of the established routine now as I’m currently in the Valley of Suck, and have been there for the longest period I’ve encountered so far. While I’m frustrated, and sad, and see no progress, somehow I keep trying. As long as I do keep trying, I know I’ll eventually manage… No comments yet. Log in to reply on the Fediverse.
