Sleeper (1973)

I was lukewarm on this, but not for the reasons you think. Woody Allen (who wrote, directed, and stars) is “Miles Monroe”, a former jazz musician and health-food restaurateur who was cryogenically frozen when he suffers surgical complications from an ulcer. It’s now 200 years later, and he’s been thawed out by members of a rebellion fighting the current dictatorial leader of the United States; they are gambling that since he has no kind of biometric record, he can more easily infiltrate the government and get them information on “Project Aires”, a mysterious plan the government is about to roll out. Monroe does lack a biometric profile – but he also lacks the will, the skill, and the temperament. The police break in as the doctors are trying to persuade him, and Monroe is only able to escape by disguising himself as one of this new society’s robot butlers. Robo-Monroe is randomly assigned to work for Luna Schlosser (Diane Keaton), a socialite and would-be poet. After some…
