I had been craving one, it had been my 10th wedding anniversary, my husband had been dead for exactly 2 years and one week. I ate my egg salad sandwich in the gas station parking lot on the way to work, and that is when I realized I was dying. When I was a teenager, I had been diagnosed with diabetes and I have been in physical turmoil ever since from that particular disorder, but this had nothing to do with the body that I had been piloting- this was soul level, in the deep caverns inside our minds and hearts, in the recesses, where light cannot reach…I realized. My soul was dying.It was not a sad death. Also when I was a teenager, I kept a purple notebook full of poems and quotes for inspiration and one of them was from Buddha who told me that someday everything would make sense and I would look up at the sky and laugh.
