Ophthalmol Ther 15, 2643–2657 (2026). https://doi.org/10.1007/s40123-026-01442-w Originally FDA-approved in early 2022 for wet AMD and diabetic macular edema, the indication for faricimab to treat macular edema secondary to retinal vein occlusion was added in late 2023. Heck et al set out to prove if the drug was effective in treating macular edema associated with retinal vein occlusion. Indeed, it demonstrated a good effect at reducing macular thickness in both naive and pre-treated eyes over a six-month period. The vision improved from 20/60 to 20/40 in the naive group. Interestingly, though macular fluid improved in the pre-treated group, their vision did not improve. Granted, their situation did not get worse.
