The AV Access iDock M10 KVM is almost perfect

I’ve been in the market for a good KVM for years. My tiny home office desk has two computers: A MacBook Air for work, that I use exclusively in clamshell mode while on the desk A Ryzen desktop with FreeBSD and Fedora My dream was to have a single keyboard, mouse, and display, and be able to switch between the two machines without constantly swapping cables. You’d think this would be easy. After all, people like me can remember having Belkin KVMs that did this for our Intel Macs, and even VGA KVMs for data centres and old desktops. But alas, as with so much modern tech, there are solutions that mostly work, but have deficiencies in design or function that render them useless, or frustrating enough that I want to defenestrate the entire mess of boxes and cables. I’d soon learn why, but it confounded me why there were (a) no good 4K KVMs that (2) would let me use a MacBook Air in clamshell mode. Surely this wasn’t a weird use case!?
