Why I will probably decline your Facebook friend request

Sometimes I get Facebook friend requests from people who read this site. I decline them, and I feel a little bad about it. I’m simply trying to keep my Facebook friend circle limited to people I know on some level — family, friends, colleagues. For all that’s wrong with Facebook, it remains an incredibly efficient way to share personal and family news. I set such posts so they’re viewable only by friends. Fortunately, that’s a minority of my posts — and my Facebook profile is public and you can follow it. Visit my profile (here) and click Follow. All friends and followers can see, like, and comment on all of my public posts. But honestly, what I publish here and in my newsletter is far more interesting than anything I post on Facebook. I’m no celebrity who needs protection from the masses. I’m just a dude in Indiana with odd hobbies and a blog.
