Outside The Met #3

Outside The Met – New York, New York I was happy that I successfully created another photo in front of the museum that I like with the Leica M246. In fact, I like this one better than the picture I featured a couple of days ago. Conceptually, both photos are very similar. I wanted to focus on the people on the stairs and frame them within the archway. I also made sure The Met sign was visible but slightly softened in the background. Why do I like this picture better? A few reasons. While it’s more crowded, I like the consistent density of people throughout the picture. Even more important is the graphic polka-dot dress the subject is wearing. It makes her stand out within the crowd. Finally, I like the interaction between the two women taking the selfie. Admittedly, these may be subtle details to people not versed in street photography. And I don’t claim to be an expert either. However, I’ve made enough photos over the years to develop a preference. The pictures I create might not…
