Cost of time

Spending 15 minutes on a call with insurance annoys me much more than it "should" but I think my feelings are correct here. I can only call the insurance company Monday to Friday, 7am to 7pm. Mornings are for getting my son ready, commute is too loud for a call, work break is for resting, evenings are for dinner and family time. I have maybe like an hour a day when I could make the call. In other words, free time during the workweek is very scarce. Call to insurance company takes 25% of that time for the day. I either need to skip lunch break or ignore my family during dinner. And I don't fucking want to do that. I like asynchronous communication, particularly with adversarial entities like insurance companies. Paper trail is nice but it's mostly about responding when it's convenient for me, not when the phone lines happen to be open.
