RIPLEY ALIEN: RESURRECTION (KENNER) Perhaps my favorite movie of all time is Aliens, which is, quite frankly, a bit surprising when you find out that the movie that introduced me to the franchise and got me super invested in it to the point of wanting to see the other movies and own the toys and stuff was…Alien: Resurrection. It’s…well, it’s not a great film. It’s not really even a good film. Honestly, “film” seems like a stretch. I don’t really buy into the distinction between “film” and “movie,” but Resurrection might be able to make a good case. On the toy side of things, the original Alien film had gotten a little bit of toy coverage from Kenner upon its release, but it didn’t go over very well, and so all subsequent toys were canceled (including a whole line of 3 3/4 inch figures, put out many years later by Funko and Super 7, launching the ReAction brand).
