Halloween 2K26 - The Lost Score of Halloween H20

John Ottman is one of those filmmakers whose résumé is almost ridiculously varied. As a composer, he’s probably best known for movies like The Usual Suspects, X2: X-Men United, Superman Returns, X-Men: Days of Future Past, The Nice Guys, and Valkyrie. Horror fans will also recognize his work from Apt Pupil, Lake Placid, Eight Legged Freaks, Gothika, Hide and Seek, and Orphan. He even directed Urban Legends: Final Cut. In 2019, Ottman won the Academy Award for Best Film Editing for his work on Bohemian Rhapsody. So, yeah. The guy is pretty talented. Interestingly enough, Ottman is also credited as the composer of 1998’s Halloween H20: 20 Years Later, but if you sit down and watch the finished movie, a surprising amount of what you’re hearing isn’t actually his original score. Instead, portions of Ottman’s music were replaced during post-production with music composed by Marco Beltrami, including previously existing cues from Scream, Scream 2, and Mimic.
