The Road

by Cormac McCarthy Story about a man and his boy travelling on foot through the ravaged landscape of a destroyed planet following an undefined doomsday armageddon event. Searching for food, drink and shelter, hiding from thieves and evading marauders and slavers, the pair struggle to survive in the cold, wet and ashen environment. The author beautifully describes a very bleak and hopeless situation, where nevertheless the man continues in the elusive hope of finding a better life for his boy.
