A Killer in Paradise (2026) by Tom Hindle

A few years ago, I read Hindle’s first book, A Fatal Crossing, and the experience hadn’t left me wanting to seek further titles out. However, I was tempted to come back and give this author another go, after the Puzzle Doctor reviewed it earlier this year. I was also intrigued by the use of Costa Rica as a setting. A Killer in Paradise is another mystery that I have read this year which is centred on the reunion of friends. The Inconvenient Corpse by Elizabeth Fenwick (which I read this year), A Bullet for Rhino by Clifford Witting, Murder Noon and Night by Kelley Roos, Death Points a Finger by Will Levinrew, The Man Who Was Not There by Ethel Lina White, Make-Up for Murder by June Wright, Reunion with Murder by Timothy Fuller, Helle & Death by Oskar Jensen and The 12 Days of Murder by Andreina Cordani are some other examples I have come across in the past. I think the lesson to learn from this is: Don’t attend reunions! That and listen to your mother, as in Hindle’s novel one…
