Just sent a text to friends and fam: Personal Health Update — My bloodwork numbers were super off last month during a routine physical with my family doc. Just met with a new oncologist after the previous retired some years ago (and I’d been putting things off). Those numbers were nowhere near the amount of off that warrants treatment. In fact, other indicators suggest I’m doing pretty good! I’ll get a CT scan and come back for more bloodwork in 2 months — just to be sure — but there aren’t any major red flags to be concerned with at the moment. This is good news. The new oncologist is even-keeled, pragmatic, and seemed amazed that I’ve sidestepped treatment for 30 years. He was most curious about the symptoms to look out for: sleeplessness, night sweats, rapid weight loss, swollen nodes… I said that some of these emerge, but never with alarm and more of an anomaly, “such things come in waves, like the seasons.” “An anomaly indeed,” he replied. — While… No comments yet.
