Hello from my new Thinkpad 0 ▲ Sal's Blog 1 hour ago · Tech · hide · 0 comments My Thinkpad arrived yesterday. :jazz-hands: I decided to go with Fedora i3 spin for my distro and desktop environment. I was trying to balance nerdiness and usability. Arch was calling me, and I may go there next. But I don’t know how much hacking time I’ll end up having on this thing, so I leaned toward a just-works approach, scoring my nerd points with i3 rather than Arch and rolling updates. And boy do I love reuniting with i3. I love its speed and power. I also appreciate how different it is from macOS. I was eager for that sort of change of scene. Speaking of changes of scene, I’m digging the Thinkpad so far. The FHD+ screen seems plenty sharp even though I’ve been spoiled by Apple’s high-DPI displays for so many years. The keyboard is great. It’s nice that I can change the role of the function keys on the fly with FnLock. And I like having physical pointer buttons above the trackpad.
