I’ve been harvesting the potatoes at the allotment. If you remember, I planted several varieties, some bought by me and some donated by a neighbouring plotter. Anyway, I instantly forgot where I had planted each variety – several all in one bed, my labels all faded over the summer and I was left guessing which was which. I knew the dark blue ones were ‘Salad blues- the ones that gained a rosette at the allotment show. But was a bit vague about the others. What did the blue ones look like inside? Someone asked. Answer – a bit weird to be honest: A bit like Dalmatians or something And cooked, even more weird: Also a bit mushy. They tasted fine but I’m not sure I’ll rush to try them again. On the other hand there were also some red skinned ones, which didn’t look weird inside and tasted great. Here in a collection of multiple varieties, harvested last week. A bit of research within my allotment journal and a quick check on the internet suggested that these are Sarpo. Definitely worth…
