Jane Austen’s 8-Bit Adventure Switch Review

Imagine if you will, an NES-style game where you play as Jane Austen, the immortal early 19th-century author, where you find pages to her books to restore them to a library. To do this, you platform and fighting various critters with a quill… wait what? Yes Jane Austen’s 8-Bit Adventure is exactly that. Fighting mice, bats, and once you find all four pages to a book, a simple pattern based boss. There’s nothing really more to it. You can throw the quill if you have tea saved up, and you get new abilities after every book like a dash. The issue with Jane Austen’s 8-Bit Adventure is it does nothing to endear you to her book. When you find the pages, you don’t get a snippet of her writing. Each level is the same generic countryside and British manor. There may be a sign like “Pemberton Pond” but what is it and why is it important? Not answered. The bosses are characters from her books, but you don’t learn who they are. Good luck figuring out the plots(you can’t). What you are left with…
