It was my birthday. I have reached the grand old age of 44. I was a little surprised to see that this year Ginza Cozy Corner had Sanrio characters for the seasonal selection box of tarts and cakes it regularly sells. Then I saw that’s exactly what they did last year and I felt even older. I had completely forgotten about the iPhone preorders starting at 9 pm JST on Saturday (why Saturday this year?) when Brandon messaged me at 8.57 pm to wish me luck getting an order in. That set off a mad dash to my phone to place my forgotten order. Fortunately, I had gone through the pre-preorder process the day before and all the critical information was ready to go. I launched the Apple Store app and (a force quit or two later) put in a preorder for a 256GB iPhone 18 Pro Max in the new burgundy colour for pick-up from the Shinjuku store on Friday.
